The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
