The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
