The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the House inhabited 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
