The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the swollen sea 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 No one can avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
