The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
