The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
