The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
