The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 by the Visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
