Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Have they not been created from some source, or are they themselves the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back. 49
