Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'? 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Or have they the treasures of your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they become weighed down in debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped. 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
