So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: "[He is but] a poet - let us wait what time will do unto him"? 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and earth? Nay, but they have not sure faith. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
