The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
