The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
