The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
