The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
