The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
