The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
