The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
