The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
