The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
