The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then came down close 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
