The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the declining star, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
