HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
