Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
