Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
