Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
