HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
