Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
