Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
