Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
