Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 and covered them with torment. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
