The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Yet, when they see a sign they [who deny the truth] turn their backs and say, "The same old sorcery!" 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
