The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
