The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
