The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
