The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
