The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
