The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
