The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
