The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
