The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
