The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
