The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
