The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
