The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 for they are bent on giving it the lie, being always wont to follow their own desires. Yet everything reveals its truth in the end. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
