The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
