The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
