[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
