The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 40
