The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
